About Elishema

Elishema was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She is an R&B Pop singer, rapper, songwriter, and music producer known for her inspirational lyrics and stunning stage presence.

Her influences include Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Brandy to name only a few. Her sound and persona can best be described as a Mariah Carey meets Beyonce with a tasteful twist of Rihanna.

As a songwriter, Elishema aims to inject words of wisdom and sentiments of love into the themes of her songs, which she labels “Music for Empowerment.” Her ultimate goal is to inspire confidence in her listeners.

She officially blasted onto the music scene with her 2010 Jazzy R&B single “Sophisticated Man,” which was well received by both internet and specialty commercial radio stations and was praised by fans worldwide.

In 2011 she released her debut album “New Beginnings,” under her family’s indie label “Inway Records.” And in 2018 followed up with her second album “Break A Sweat for Me.”

Since then, Elishema has continued to grow and sustain her fan base by releasing new music that included her 2018 release Can’t Keep Running Back which Reached #35 on the DRT global top 150 independent airplay chart, and now her 2019 R&B single “Don’t Play With Me” a hip hop inspired tune about wanting to be treated with respectt and not being taken advance of in a negative way.

As a performer, Elishema has opened for the Chi-lites, Kelly Price, Chaka Khan, Frankie Beverly & Maze, and shared the stage with chart-topping artist like Jazz from Dru Hill, K Jon and Noel Gourdin only to name a few.

She has also received praise from Kool & The Gang after performing a special tribute for them during their visit in Chicago. She also hosted a charity program in Chicago which included giving free concerts to senior citizens at various apartment complex throughout the city as well as singing national anthem at events sponsored by Illinois Secretary of State Jessie White.

Being a well-rounded entertainer, she has performed at various colleges, universities, and festivals, as well as toured internationally. Most recently during her 2019 tour in Ghana West Africa she sang the Ghana National Anthem during a worldwide televised boxing match at the Bukom Boxing arena.
